11 - Carla Bruni’s “Le Plus Beau Du Quartier”September 5th, 2007 CityLightsGuide.com Posted in Uncategorized 34 Comments » This is my version of the Carla Bruni song “Le Plus Beau Du Quartier.” I think it becomes especially funny when a guy sings it. I use that cool loop pedal too. Hope you dig.
10 - Paul Simon’s 50 Ways to Leave Your LoverAugust 28th, 2007 CityLightsGuide.com Posted in Uncategorized 30 Comments » This is me covering Paul Simon’s “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” using a keyboard, loop pedal, and melodica. I do some beat boxing, which I apologize for. If you just want the song, go to 4:30 in the video. Enjoy! (Leave a comment after the jump…)
09 - Bring Me Back a RockAugust 21st, 2007 CityLightsGuide.com Posted in Uncategorized 15 Comments » This is one of my favorite, classic LA stories. I have another similar one that I’ll probably tell one day or another. Keep in mind, my own aunt once bought me a book called “How To Lose Friends and Alienate People” because it “reminded her of me.” Sigh. The song is just a little bitter love song, and I apologize to the subject of the love for the bitterness. I wrote it months ago! Also, if you just want the song, go to 3:50 in the video. Enjoy! 08 - Married Woman/Maid MarianAugust 14th, 2007 CityLightsGuide.com Posted in Uncategorized 24 Comments » This is the story of a girl I worked with, who was married, and also wanted to date me. Then she turned out to be crazy. Yet another example that begs the age old question: Why are all the crazy ones married? (Full Lyrics after the jump…) 07 - Tommy AsksAugust 10th, 2007 CityLightsGuide.com Posted in Uncategorized 13 Comments » Hey Everyone, This is my best LA story thus far, bar none. Ken is a freak, isn’t he? The telling of this story is a bit…shall we say, disjointed? But you can get the idea. I try to hit on a girl in a bar. Turns out she’s with friends. One of them is named Ken. The girl likes Ken. Ken doesn’t like the girl. I flirt with girl. I fail miserably. Ken and I talk. Three minutes go by. I leave the bar. Three days later, I receive this song. Crazy. Full lyrics after the jump:
06 - SynaesthesiaJuly 30th, 2007 CityLightsGuide.com Posted in Uncategorized 19 Comments » This is a song I wrote called Synaesthesia. The word is defined in the video. Don’t worry, the song starts less than a minute in. Song isn’t on my CD. Sorry. Hope you like!
05 - Homicidal TendenciesJuly 26th, 2007 CityLightsGuide.com Posted in Uncategorized 12 Comments » This is a story about Regan, who was one of my first major crushes. I haven’t seen her in a very long time. Probably because I often seem crazy. Regan, I am not crazy. I’m totally normal. And I don’t feel any mind-numbing, heart-breaking love for you. Really. None at all. Once again, this song is on my CD on CDBaby. Go get it. It’s awesome.
04 - Roller Shoe Disaster + Brand New KeyJuly 10th, 2007 CityLightsGuide.com Posted in Uncategorized 61 Comments » This is me playing the classic song ‘Brand New Key.’ It’s by Melanie, who was popular for about twelve seconds at some point in the late 60s or early 70s. You know how long it takes you to floss the three molars in the upper left (stage left, that is) corner of your mouth? That’s how long Melanie was popular. I’m sure she tried a comeback at some point, which I imagine was very sad and pathetic. A moment, please, for Melanie.
